THE BOSS IS BACK! Late last year, we started experiencing some problems with our website; due to circumstances beyond our control, it went offline for a while. We have had to change our web address to www.lovingstitch.net and are working on getting the shopping cart up and running again, with some new items. May 2 update: the online store is now open again. We have also been working on addressing the price changes caused by the strength of the Canadian dollar. Most of our stock comes from Canadian suppliers; we are at their mercy when it comes to pricing. When they reduce their prices on our orders, we immediately reduce ours when new stock arrives. Items that we import from the US still have a hefty shipping charge attached to them; we have lowered prices, but have to take shipping costs into consideration. Last, but not least, we would like to welcome a new staff member; Roni has been a customer for many years and was delighted to fill the vacancy left by Margaret when she moved to the Sunshine Coast. What's NewKITSThe Dimensions Spring Catalogue is in store now; we have ordered and received some of the kits. Pricing is at its lowest in 10 years according to our sales rep; we are expecting the Christmas 2008 catalogue around the middle of May. DMCWe have received word from DMC that, effective immediately, they have lowered prices on most products. We have done so accordingly, with the exception of the cotton floss, which we are already selling below suggested retail. They have also informed us that their website has many free patterns on it as well as tips for stitchers and items that are new. Anything that is advertised on the site, we can order in for you. Rayon Floss is being phased out to make room for the new Satin Floss, which we will be stocking once our supply of Rayon runs out. Colour Variations in both floss and pearl #5 has proven to be a great addition to our thread line. The colours are very nicely variegated, don't run when washed and work up beautifully. DMC Colour Charts have undergone a face-lift; they will now be printed cards, no more pieces of actual thread, and the cost has been lowered significantly. The Colour Cards will include all threads available in the DMC line. MAGAZINESThe latest issue of Lena Hardanger is in; we fell in love with it! There are so many projects in there—we can't decide which one to do first! Other magazines in stock now are Inspirations #57, Cross Stitch & Beading #73, Cross Stitch and Needlework and the April issue of Stoney Creek. BOOKS

ACCESSORIESA great new item is the Beading Set, which comes with a bead mat, bead storage containers, needles, magnetic needle case and metal triangle to pour the beads back into the containers. Because of popular demand, we have decided to add a small sewing notions section. We get a lot of customers asking for basic needs such as safety pins, white sewing thread, speed-sew etc. A handy new item are the Mini-Chaser Magnets. These come in a set of 4 and are perfect for keeping your needle on your work. They are small in size and would work for beading needles as well. MODELSThe Stitching Studio has been so kind as to lend us some of their recent models. It is always such a pleasure to see actual models stitched up; it helps you put the size and colouring of the picture in perspective. We have also added some new models to our already huge collection of models, some of which are "Ivy" by Nora Corbett, "Bird on Treebranch" by Zweigart and "Aurora Borealis" by Gitta. We do have some stitched models for sale as well; unfortunately books do get discontinued and we can't display those models any longer. Great gift idea! SALEA little later than usual, but we have done a massive book clearout! Books that were in the sale box already have also seen their prices slashed again. This covers cross stitch, crochet, hardanger, knitting & petit point. We even have a "free" bin; charts in this bin just need to find a loving home…. There are a few balls of eyelash knitting yarn left at $2.00 per ball; hurry in before they are gone! Needle Necessities has gone out of business; we have put a clearance price of $3.00 on all remaining overdyed floss and pearl cotton in sizes 5&8. A new company, Threadworkx, is supposed to be taking on the line; we are checking into it. We have a large selection of pre-cuts on sale in all sizes and fabulous colours. Select Linen banding as well as select Aida ribband is on sale as well. |
